As of Feb 1st, 2018 everyone who purchases a pig from anywhere and anyone, must create an online account (which is very simple) on the PigPass database. When you purchase a pig, you should also receive a PigPass. Every LPP customer does and you legally should from anyone selling or moving pigs.
On that piece of paper (the PigPass), there is a serial number in the top left corner, as shown in my photo below (don’t use the one in the photo, duh) You need to enter that serial number into the appropriate area on the Pigpass website, to “close the loop”. And you MUST do this within 2 days of receiving the pig.
So they basically then have on their system that my pig which came from here, now lives at your address, to help with disease control and management.
Now this is YOUR responsibility to do, I will explain this and give a print out to each and everyone purchasing one of our pigs when they are picked up or send it with them. You must do it within 48 hours of the time and date I have put on your Pigpass. And if you don’t you can receive a penalty notice.
It’s super easy, takes no time at all, and you just don’t have a choice, it’s the law now.
So if you are going to be getting a pig from us, or anyone, please create an account online on the Pigpass website so you are ready for when you bring your pig home.
